WELCOME TO EASTFIELDS
We are an equine based care farm situated on the outskirts of Somerton, Somerset, England which offers daily inclusive activities for adults with learning difficulties. We also offer riding experiences and lessons for our younger riders from Somerton and surrounding areas.
We also run workshops for adults wanting to learn something new with produce we grow or harvest from right here on our farm.
OUR ADULT DAY SERVICE
Set against the picturesque rural backdrop of Somerton, Eastfields offers a nurturing and inclusive day provision for individuals in need of alternative education and support pathways. Our ethos is rooted in a person-centred approach, ensuring that each individual's unique needs are met through tailored activities and holistic care.
We specialise in supporting those with complex needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), those at risk of exclusion, and home-educational learners. Our mission is to build confidence, embed essential life skills, and promote independence as individuals transition into adulthood.

SCHOOL GROUPS
We proudly welcome school groups and provide tailored alternative provision designed to support students who benefit from learning outside a traditional classroom setting. Our programmes offer hands-on, experience-based activities—from farm work and animal care to life skills and therapeutic sessions—created to build confidence, engagement, and personal growth. Each visit is structured to meet the needs of diverse learners, offering a safe, nurturing environment where students can thrive, develop new skills, and discover their strengths. We work closely with schools to ensure every session is meaningful, inclusive, and aligned with each student’s individual goals
THERAPY RIDING
As part of our day service for individuals with special needs, we are proud to offer therapeutic and recreational horse-riding sessions designed to support confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing. Our experienced team provides a calm, encouraging environment where each rider can enjoy meaningful interaction with our gentle horses while developing new skills at their own pace. Every session is adapted to meet individual abilities and needs, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and empowering experience for all.”.

ANIMAL THERAPY
Our therapy animals play a cherished role in our day service, offering comfort, connection, and joyful experiences for individuals with special needs. Gentle, well-trained, and carefully selected for their calm nature, our animals help create moments of relaxation, confidence building, and emotional wellbeing. Whether through guided interaction, sensory activities, or simply sharing a quiet moment together, our therapy animals bring a unique kind of support that enriches each person’s day. Their presence fosters trust, reduces anxiety, and adds a warm, uplifting element to our care environment.
LIFE SKILLS
Our life-skills program is designed to support individuals with special needs in building confidence, independence, and practical abilities for everyday living. Through engaging, hands-on activities, participants learn essential skills such as cooking, personal care, communication, teamwork, and community participation. Each session is adapted to individual abilities and delivered in a supportive, empowering environment where progress is celebrated. By focusing on real-life experiences and meaningful learning, our program helps each person develop the tools they need to thrive both within our service and beyond.
FUN ON THE FARM
Our farm-based activities give individuals with special needs the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with nature in a hands-on, meaningful way. Participants take part in daily farm tasks such as caring for animals, tending to plants, and maintaining the outdoor environment—all at a pace suited to their abilities. These activities promote responsibility, teamwork, and confidence while offering a calming, sensory-rich experience. Working on the farm helps each person develop practical skills, build independence, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of time spent outdoors

SOMERTON CHRISTMAS LIGHT SWITCH ON
Jerry and Di were feeing very festive at the Somerton light switch on. He loved seeing all the smiles on everyones faces as he paraded around giving out sweets! he even had a special dance to Dominick the Donkey!
